FEMA assisting in state's wildfire response
The briefing
The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved disaster assistance on Aug. 4 to help Washington fight wildfires burning across Central and Eastern Washington. The assistance covers Chelan, Ferry, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens and Yakima counties along with three tribal governments. The declaration does not include financial assistance to individuals or families, and the state remains responsible for 25% of the cost of direct federal assistance.
