Land Trust, Wenatchee near goal to protect Lookout Natural Area

The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and the city of Wenatchee are within $165,000 of completing a $4.3 million campaign to permanently protect the 134-acre Lookout Natural Area on Burch Mountain. The city-owned property preserves habitat for mule deer, bighorn sheep and native plants and offers future access to nearly 168,000 acres of adjoining public land. Reaching the goal would also position the project for $1 million in state funding to develop a trailhead, with public access likely in 2029.
