Realizing the promise of America in Wenatchee

A member of the Bahá'ís of Wenatchee writes that the promise Americans made one another 250 years ago still holds, even as hope is strained by fires, floods, wars and division. Citing Margaret Mead on small groups of committed citizens, the piece argues that grassroots work is what is most powerful when people hold their oneness in mind and welcome contributions from different backgrounds. Beginning in September, the local Bahá'í community will host five monthly gatherings built around five questions about capacity, mutual responsibility, education, institutions and shared devotional spirit.
