Data breached in May Chelan County malware attack
The briefing
Chelan County said personal information may have been stolen during the malware attack that shut down its systems for nearly a month, with sensitive data accessed around May 20-24. A notification to the state Attorney General's Office says the event involves personal information of at least 500,001 Washington residents, potentially including Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account details and medical information. The county published guidance on ordering credit reports, placing fraud alerts and freezing credit.
