Chelan County, city of Wenatchee reach jail contract agreement

Chelan County and the city of Wenatchee reached an interlocal agreement on jail services, ending litigation over housing city detainees. The contract sets a $2.2 million minimum annual base payment for 2027, or $213 per inmate per day above that, and retroactively sets 2025 at $2.5 million and 2026 at $2.51 million. The city council voted unanimously Thursday to let the mayor sign, and the county was expected to vote Aug. 18.
