NCW study targets wildfire smoke risks for children with asthma

The briefing

Seattle Children’s and the nonprofit Wenatchee CAFÉ have initiated a four-year research project to study and mitigate the health risks of wildfire smoke on children with asthma in Central Washington. Led by pediatric pulmonologist Dr. Mary Crocker, the project invites families in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan counties to share their experiences through surveys and interviews. The ultimate goal is to develop localized action plans and tools to protect vulnerable youth from toxic smoke exposure.
