Wildfire risk remains in Wenatchee Valley despite cooling temperatures
The briefing
Even as temperatures begin to cool in North Central Washington, fire officials warn that dry fuels continue to pose a significant wildfire risk. Wenatchee Valley Fire Department Capt. Blake Larson notes that some of the valley's largest fires have historically occurred in September and October. Authorities stress that a sustained period of precipitation is needed before the region's wildfire season officially concludes.
