Douglas County declines veteran service office merger

Douglas County withdrew its interest in a proposed proposal to merge the veterans service offices of Chelan and Douglas counties, leaving the plan on hold. Douglas County Commissioner Dan Sutton noted concerns that everyone involved was not aligned on what a combined office would accomplish. Despite the setback, Chelan County is considering hiring a second veterans service officer to continue meeting the needs of local vets and their families.
