Wenatchee artist’s YMCA mural pays tribute to grandfather, Arlberg Sports founder

The briefing

Local artist Kealani 'Kea' Paton Yamamoto has completed a massive 100-foot-wide line drawing mural of Saddle Rock and the foothills on the new Wenatchee Valley YMCA gymnasium. Hidden within the landscape is a tribute to her grandfather Ken Paton, the founder of Arlberg Sports, depicting him teaching her to fly fish. Kea created the project using Meta Goggles while battling personal challenges, turning her diagnosis with Bipolar I disorder into an open conversation about community support.
