Seattle woman rescued after injuring ankle near Lake Charles
The briefing
A 56-year-old Seattle woman was rescued by a Chelan County Sheriff's Office helicopter on Sept. 23 after injuring her ankle while hiking near Lake Charles. The hiker had spent the night outdoors with friends after a jump from a rock left her unable to walk down the steep terrain. Search and rescue coordinator Rob Huddleston noted an uptick in recent rescues due to improving weather conditions as wildfire smoke clears.
